Dentures and Partials

Dentures are the most common solution when someone is missing a few or all of their teeth. Both complete and partial dentures are available, and are removable. Dental Implants are also becoming a viable option, but dentures are a less expensive solution. We will discuss all of your options here at Diley Ridge Dental, and help to determine the best solution for you.

Complete dentures are used when the patient has no teeth remaining. Most often, “conventional” dentures will be ready several weeks after the last tooth is removed. Dentures can be ready for use immediately after the teeth are removed, as the gum tissues will shrink after the teeth are gone, soft liners will need to be placed the first 6y months until a hard reline can be done. This will ensure the best fit, and best health for your mouth.

If the patient still has some natural teeth remaining, partial dentures are an option. The replacement teeth are installed on a plastic, gum-colored base that secures them into place among the natural teeth. Along with keeping the new teeth in a good position, partial dentures help to prevent the other teeth from shifting and increase your ability to chew.

When the time is right for you to receive dentures, it will take several appointments to fabricate them. Accurate impressions will be taken to analyze your bite and how your jaws line up. Then a sample denture will be made to check the fit and color before the final denture is made. After the final dentures are created, there will be at least one follow-up appointment as well. This visit is important to ensure the fit is still good, and make any other necessary adjustments.
