Dental Bridge

Missing teeth can be an embarrassment when smiling. However, these spaces don’t just affect the appearance of your smile, they can also negatively impact dental health. Just one missing tooth,
if left unattended can lead to many dental issues including:

  • Development of periodontal disease
  • Decay and shifting of remaining, healthy teeth
  • Damage of joints in the jaw
  • Difficulty to chew, eat, and speak
  • Loss of bone density, thickness and height

Dental bridges can be utilized to prevent problems caused by tooth loss by filling in the spaces created by tooth loss. Most dental bridges are a prosthesis made of crowns supported by each of the adjacent teeth and then a crown that is attached in the middle. A bridge is cemented in as one piece, effectively “bridging” or filling in the gap created by missing teeth.

Most dental bridges can be completed with two visits. After your first visit, you will leave with a temporary bridge while the lab custom creates your permanent dental bridge. On your second visit, the bridge will be adjusted and cemented in place. Your bridge will be matched to the color of your existing teeth, to ensure they blend.
